Fixing Advertising Boston – November 30, 2010
Thanks to all our panelists for a great discussion at the Harvard Club in Boston – perhaps the oil portrait of George Washington looming above put a bit of pressure on us, but our panel delivered as always! Our last panel of 2010 touched on topics such as the value and ownership of data, what challenges publishers are facing, and the usual privacy/consumer discussion that we just can’t seem to get enough of these days

Fixing Advertising London – September 21, 2010
Just returned from a great week in Europe for Fixing Advertising: London that brought over 100 ROI-focused (and thirsty!) attendees. The discussion, led by the great Ciaran O’Kane from ExchangeWire.com brought together one of our best panel discussions yet. I’ll let the audio speak for itself — the beginning is slightly cut off due to some technical problems early on, but most of the discussion is there. Enjoy!

Fixing Advertising SES San Fancisco – August 17, 2010
In a bit of a departure from previous panels, we took the opportunity of SES being in town to deep dive into how SEM experts (such as our panelists) are leveraging their data-driven skill set to make display a profitable channel in an event called “Fixing Advertising: The Quants Strike Back”. Over 150 eager (and thirsty!) SEMs turned out for the discussion, and our panelists taught us quite a lot. I’ll leave the takeaways to them in the audio version on the podcast.

Fixing Advertising Los Angeles – July 19, 2010
We collaborated with the Rubicon Project to bring our sixth panel event to Los Angeles and were astonished at how many great technologists, marketers, and agencies joined in the conversation in LA – another sellout crowd. We want to give special thanks to our co-hosts at Rubicon and Pete Kim for taking the ‘demotion’ to moderator.
If you haven’t yet, make sure you come out to these events. We’re seeing a momentum in the Display space that can’t be ignored!
Stay tuned for announcements for Boston, London, and our triumphant return to San Francisco!

A sellout crowd descended upon Nest Event Loft for Fixing Advertising’s return to New York for Internet Week for a discussion about the “gangly teenager” of display advertising. A lot of the discussion centered around where we are in the development of the Display space; as Meghan Keane reported in eConsultancy yesterday:
Display advertising may be the red headed stepchild of digital advertising, but brands and marketers are bullish that it is poised to grow in the next few years. According to the panelists at Fixing Advertising in New York this week, there’s a simple reason for that: display has failed to make much progress from the basic premises of traditional advertising.
More great commentary in Meghan’s article, and you can listen for yourself on the podcast to draw your own conclusions.

Fixing Advertising Seattle – May 13, 2010
We assembled a great panel and met a great crowd in Seattle — in this ever-crowding space, it was refreshing to hear the panelists drill down into which segments of the ecosystem add value (and defend their own relevance in the space). Favorite question (from a Media Planner): “Is there a such thing as a Media Planner anymore?” (answer: of course)

Fixing Advertising Panel: Chicago – April 28, 2010
On Wednesday, April 28th we descended upon Chicago to have our 3rd Fixing Advertising panel. Actually, more like a-scended, as we were 95 floors up in the lovely John Hancock Center.
Moderated by Tim Hanlon, who just announced his joining our very good friends at marketing strategy firm Catalyst S+F, pressed the panelists on how the new media buying and creative strategy we’re all hearing about is changing the way agencies are (or should be?) doing business, on where the available inventory is, and on what this all means for publishers among other things.
A great show, and quite different than our NY and SF panels. But I’ll let you be the judge; the audio from the panel is now available on our podcast on iTunes. Get it here.
Once again, we’d like to thank our panelists:
Chris Stevens, Sr. Director of eCommerce @ Orbitz Worldwide
Jeremy Jameson, Airline Marketing Strategist, frmr. Southwest Airlines & American Airlines
Hope Gurion, CDO @ CareerBuilder
Rajeev Goel, CEO @ PubMatic
Michael Baker, CEO @ DataXu
Jon Aizen, COO & Co-Founder @ Dapper
Moderator is Tim Hanlon, frmr. EVP @ VivaKi

Fixing Advertising San Francisco – March 24, 2010
We had a lively discussion (to say the least) last night at the W in San Francisco from our panelists (and some great questions from the audience). New drinking game: every time someone compares Display to Search, you take a drink. (more…)
Fixing Advertising New York City – February 24, 2010
As John Ebbert in AdExchanger mentioned today, the “Fixing Advertising” DSP/Data/Dynamic Ads roundup didn’t disappoint — if a data driven smackdown is what you’re after. We’ll see how we can follow up on that, but we will definitely be hosting the San Francisco version of this event next month and will be announcing details next week (save the date: March 24). (more…)
